Questions

Can I take a U.S. passport photo with my phone?

Yes. Photos taken at home are accepted if they meet the official requirements. Stand in front of a plain white wall, face a window for even light, and ideally ask someone to hold the phone. PicPassed guides you step by step and checks the photo for you.

Is the passport photo checker free?

Yes. Checking your photo is free. You pay $9.99 only when a photo passes and you want to download it.

How much does it cost?

$9.99 for your photo, including a digital file for online forms and a 4×6 print sheet. Checking your photo is free, and you only pay once it passes.

Do you edit or retouch my photo?

No. The U.S. Department of State says not to change your photo with software, apps, filters or artificial intelligence. We only check your photo and crop it to the official size. We never smooth skin, change the background or alter your face.

Is my photo uploaded anywhere?

No. Your photo is checked and prepared on your own phone or computer. It is never uploaded to our servers.

How do I print it at CVS, Walgreens or Walmart?

Download the 4×6 print sheet and order it as a normal 4×6 photo print (choose "actual size"). Each sheet has two 2×2 inch photos to cut out. The State Department asks for matte or glossy photo paper.
