How to print a passport photo at CVS, Walgreens or Walmart
Order the 4×6 print sheet as an ordinary 4×6 photo print, then cut out the two 2×2 photos. CVS, Walgreens and Walmart all take 4×6 prints ordered online, with pickup the same day. The State Department asks for a 2 × 2 inch photo printed on matte or glossy photo-quality paper, with no visible printer dots.
You pay $9.99 only after your photo passes, and we never edit it.
Print it in five steps
Get the 4×6 print sheet.PicPassed gives you a sheet with two 2×2 inch photos side by side at 300 pixels per inch, plus the digital file for online forms.
Order it as a 4×6 print. On the store's photo website or app, choose a 4×6 print and upload the sheet.
Don't crop or zoom. The sheet already has the 4×6 shape. If the order screen offers a full-photo or no-crop option, choose it. Walgreens calls it a cropless full photo print.
Choose glossy or matte. Both are fine for a passport photo. For a green card, the Form I-485 instructions ask for thin paper with a glossy finish, so choose glossy.
Pick it up and cut it out.Cut along the light grey lines. Each photo should measure 2 × 2 inches (51 × 51 mm). Check with a ruler before you send it.

Questions
What size is a printed passport photo?
2 × 2 inches (51 × 51 mm), with the head 1 to 1⅜ inches from the bottom of the chin to the top of the head.
Do I send the whole 4×6 print?
No. The 4×6 inches is the paper. Cut out the 2×2 photos and send those.
How many photos do I need?
A U.S. passport application needs one photo. Form I-485 (green card) and an immigrant visa interview each need two identical photos. The sheet has two.
Can I print it at home?
Only on matte or glossy photo-quality paper, and only if the print shows no printer dots: that is what the State Department asks for. Plain office paper won't do. If your printer can't manage that, a 4×6 print from a store is the simple choice.
Do I need a printed photo to renew online?
No. For online renewal you upload the digital file instead.
